The Sombrero Ranch will bring its horses through Maybell heading west on Saturday afternoon. The group of more than 600 horses and several cowboys will head west, staying Sunday night in Sunbeam and making their winter home in Brown's Park. Everyone is encouraged to come to Maybell to see the horses running through town. Many locals look forward each year to the horses running east in May and west in December.
Maybell Rustlers will have their monthly meeting at 4 p.m. Friday in the Community Center. The Rustlers will discuss their Christmas party and set a date for picking out gifts for the Toys for Tots program. The Maybell Rustlers will also collect cans for the needy. A date will be posted so Maybell locals may be prepared to donate. If interested in donating any can goods or any aluminum cans, give Lance Poole a call.
Maybell is starting to look a lot like Christmas thanks to Women's Club volunteers Rose White, Linda Sloan and Dianne Gould. The Community Center is now decorated for all holiday parties. If you would like a holiday party in the Community Center, make reservations for the building with a board member.
Thanks to Yampa Valley Electric Association, the Christmas lighting contest is on again. The contest will be judged from houses starting at Ron Stoffles to Sunbeam. After the judges' final vote, cash awards will be given.
Maybell Park is open again for December for camping only. The fee will be $8 per night with or without electricity. The bathrooms and showers will not be open until next spring. For more information, call Karen Burley.
Maybell seniors will have their senior dinner of the month on Thursday. This will be a special turkey Christmas dinner. Everyone is welcome. Bring 75 cents and a covered dish. Christmas carols will be sung.
The craft club has started back up for the winter months. Each Friday the crafters meet at the Community Center from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. They exchange ideas and make beautiful crafts. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call Pam Buffam.
The Maybell Teddy Bear story time is from 11:30 a.m. to noon each Wednesday. The children will be hearing Christmas stories all month as well as making Christmas decorations. Any children from ages 2 to 6 are welcome.
Maybell Library would like to acknowledge the volunteers who have been spending countless hours helping the library with its changes. Rose White, Katie Buff and Rosemary Hertzog have done things to improve our library. Please thank each of them when you see them. They deserve it.
