Question of the week
Did the Moffat County School Board make the right decision in replacing MCHS athletic director Rick Penner, who had been considered missing after not being heard from for about a week?

You know what? It doesn't matter what the council thinks. They were elected to represent the people, not the other way around. Amazes me that we Americans are begging at every avenue to be heard, local gov. all the way up to D.C.
The people said no, the council said yes. Don't re-elect any of them. Remember, we need transparent elections. Also remember, just because they're elected doesn't mean they're that smart, just push overs.

People need to live somewhere. When I left home-years ago- a kid could afford an apartment on his/her own. They can't now. Home ownership is a dream of all. It shouldn't become a pipe dream. New houses need to be built somewhere. If not out by Pineridge, then where?

The reason kids can't afford an appartment these days is because they all want to drive a brand new car (go to the high school on any school day and you will see that 2/3 of the students drive nicer cars than the teachers). They also want their I-pods, cell phones, twelve pairs of sneakers, dish network, dinner out five nights a week, and a daily dose of $4.00 coffee. Our children are going to have a rude awakening in the comming years. The fact that we haven't taught this entire generation how to work or be accountable is just a shame. In years past a man and woman would scrimp and save for a number of years so they could put 20% down on a house. Now they loan at 110% of value and default rates are at record highs. Home ownership, like most things in this country, is not a right. Go out and work your tail off if you want a new house, don't expect state or local officials to set an artificially low rate on a house just so our youth can keep their cell phones and coffee.

people need to be responsable for themselves if they can't afford it let them go somewhere they can. Kids and new cars? wow thats far off from the fact that the city once again didn't listen to the people. I don't think the kids work for those new cars. Affordable housing though geez lets move more scum into our neighborhood its the nicest in town. lets focus on the fact that once again craig is ruining one of the better places in town.

I'm aware of brand new homes that have been on the market over a year here as well as others. Banks are not lending without 25% down. The days of teaser rates are over. Also, property values are down. If someone bought a house in the last 2 years or refinanced for the full amount, well, they're probably upside down now. Many homes in the real estate section of this paper say, “Price Reduction”.
With the cost of fuel sky rocketing, the cost of future construction will only cost that much more.
Attitude A, you hit the nail square on the head. The nation has been turned to a “service” industry. Servants have to work for a living. We're all taxslaves.
