Don't get me wrong. I think it's a wonderful gift and gesture, but just because WalMart constructs a façade of social work doesn't mean they should be looked at any different, much less get away with saturating mom and pop stores to oblivion, actively opposing affordable health care, jeopardizing national security (they fought efforts in Congress to tighten U.S. port security, arguing that “examining all containers, of even a fixed percentage of them, could impede shipping and boost costs), and deny workers the right to unionise (1st amendment, right of assembly anyone?).
Don't let them get away with it, vote in the corporate hall of shame today: http://www.stopcorporateabusenow.org/cam…

spencer-Wal-Mart does a lot of good things. Giving a donation to the hospital is just the tip of the iceberg. I have worked at many jobs that don't offer any health care at all. No one put them down. What mom and pop store in Craig went out of business because Wal-Mart came to Craig? I haven't seen any. As a matter of fact, there are many new businesses going up. Wal-Mart was one of the biggest donors to help the people in southern California last year during the wildfires. Wal-Mart makes huge donations to the Make a Wish Foundation to help terminally ill children and their families. As far as unions go-many people that work through unions wouldn't if they had that option. Why don't you put down every business in Craig that is not unionized? Can you list them all? Wal-Mart is a business. A very successful business. If you don't like it, don't go there. They won't miss you.
