From the Steamboat Today:

"Steamboat Springs — With no rain expected anytime soon and the potential for wildfires still high in this part of the state, officials in several Northwest Colorado counties could start recommending Stage 1 fire restrictions as early as next week.

Steamboat Springs Fire Chief Mel Stewart on Tuesday morning participated in a conference call with fire managers from Routt and six other nearby counties to evaluate the fire danger and plan ahead.

“Based off of that discussion, we are talking about recommending Stage 1 restrictions for most of Northwest Colorado by, if not the first week, then the second week of July,” Stewart said.

Stage 1 restrictions would prohibit all personal fireworks and disallow fires except at designated recreation sites.

Smokers also would have to take extra precautions when outside of vehicles or buildings.

When fire officials evaluate whether to recommend restrictions, they look at seven criteria ranging from drought indicators to the moisture content in light fire fuels, such as sagebrush."

Did Moffat County officials participate? Will there be an article in the Craig paper about this issue?
