This story allowed others to see how Poorly our hospital is run, but it is no surprise to most Craig residents. We already know of Hospital charges to much and is run more like a carnival, with poeple coming and going all the time. The Hospital administrators believe that no-one should dare question them and if a doctor does question them or won't do what The Craig Hospital tells them to do, then they will run that doctor or medical personal out of town.
I have lived in Craig 31 years and I know not to take my family to the Craig Hospital. Just the other night (11:00pm) my son hurt his hand badly while riding his bike.
I had just driven home from Denver and was very tired. I still got up and drove my son to the Steamboat Springs Hospital instead of the Craig Hospital.
This is how we locals truly react to our Craig Hospital. We go elsewhere.
James81625 - I totally agree with you. After three or four unsatisfactory trips to TMH, my family now goes to Steamboat for treatment unless the issue is life-threatening. Between the poor care and the overbilling for services not recieved or double charged for, we have no faith in TMH and will no longer go there unless absolutely necessary. Which is a pity...I had high hopes when the new hospital was built.
As a former employee of TMH and somoene who still has friends that are currently employed by TMH... I can say that I have to agree that the current Administration and CEO leave much to be desired. During my employment at TMH, I witnessed many unethical situations that were, shall I say, "swept under the carpet" It realy is no surprise to me that TMH has such a high turnover rate not only with the Doc's but clinical staff as well. Kudo's to those who have seen the light and found employment elswhere and to those people who seek healthcare at other facilities. Believe me, you are all much better off. This is not to say that the are not any "quality" emplyees that work at TMH but it is my opinion that if they had other optoins they would and should consider those options. Unfortuntly there is only one game in town and the current administration certainly understands that these empoyees have few if any choices for employment in the medical field in Craig Co .In other words" their backs are against the wall" because of how deeply they are embedded in the community. I understand how it feels to not be appreciated by your employer and this is why I no longer work at TMH.
I have the same feelings as those listed above. My daughter was taken to the emergency room against our wishes when she was injured at the high school. The next day we were told by a specialist in SBS that what was done in the emergency room was unnecessary and caused such swelling that surgery had to be delayed. To top that off, when I called to pay my portion of the emergency room bill, the "person" was so rude, that I actually said to her, if this is how she treats people trying to pay their bill how does she treat those who are unable. So I called the billing office in Greeley and instead of paying the bill in its entirety as planned I made small payments with no interest....thanks to the rude broad in the office here and I made sure that they knew why I paid this way. All care other than that er visit was done in Steamboat with very professional and caring staff, both medical and business.
