First of all, I'm against all the nightclubs to begin with because I don't see one positive thing about any of them, except to encourage alcoholism & wasting money that could go for much healthier activities.

With that said, isn't there another nightclub owner who recently made the paper for failing to pay approx $11,000 in taxes and was also charged with hit & run?

Is this about Tarango's dishonesty or about the other night club owner's not wanting competition? Just wondering.

Generally, nightclubs major contributions to the community will be, designated meeting place for the criminal element in the community, higher delinquent child care payments, battered and abused adults and their neglected kids, central location for the distribution, consumption of drugs and sexually transmitted diseases.
Containing these activities in one central location helps law enforcement maintain crime with lower overhead… drunk criminals are easier to catch.
Every community needs a nightclub to help control crime.

@ Metoo, there generally is no discussion on the renewals unless there is cause for denial shown.

I was all for this night club opening the trial runs that he had were great, but Victor should have better prepared himself for this he should have had someone billigual fill out the paperwork and explain everything properly. Since he doesn't speak english very well he should have had an interpreter. All of that would have helped a little. Sadly he wasn't well prepared.

As a mater of fact, most scofflaws don’t bother to have someone bilingual there to help them brush up on Colorado Brand laws and regulations or when engaging in disorderly conduct… these things are covered when a person like Victor takes classes in preparation for his US citizen tests.

Yea maybe, but i am an interpreter and I help spanish speaking people everyday, even people with their citizenships need me to explain things to them when they are confused or don't understand something.

Just sayin…he shouldn't have though that was a big mistake. That part was clear on the application but he needed to better explain himself.

City Council may have been more concerned with the indiscretions this man may have committed and just did not get caught or convicted of.
Just the “not so little” omissions were bad enough, there is a set pattern of deviant behavior that is blamed on ignorance of the law because he can not read or write English.
Ignorance of the law is not a valid defense.

    just sayn..

This is a very unfortunate circumstance that was inevitably going to happen. This is not about race. This is not about the location (necessarily). This is not about whether or not Craig needs another night club. This is about integrity and honesty. It appears as though this guy can not be honest, period!!! Not only did he not accurately fill out the application the first time, he was given a second opportunity to make this right a second time. So, no one can tell me he didn't know about all the publicity surrounding why he was denied the first time. He had more than enough time to figure this out. Whether he needed an interpreter or not, someone who is serious about starting a business and given a second chance at it should not have made the second mistake. However, I hope this sheds some light to everyone that being dishonest gets you no where. No matter who you are, eventually it's going to catch up with you. I applaud the city council for giving someone a second chance. This guy doesn't even deserve a third chance in 2 years, regardless. Honesty and integrity means everything!!

    Craignative,
My sentiments exactly, this nightclub fiasco was never about ethicality, it is about honesty and lack of a good business plan.
Who tries to start a business if they don’t bother to read or understand the fine print.
    This was blatant deception.

Wow!!! I can't believe that someone tried to pull the race card on this issue!!! We are all “Honked up Rednecks”!!! That is just about as racially charged of a statement that I can think of. I am not a racist, but I am tired of illegals flooding our country and our community and taking up our resources. It is not a race issue, it is an illegal immigrant issue. If Tarrango is constantly violating the laws of the United States, he does not deserve to be here, let alone have a night club!! Good Job City Council!!

I wanted to give Tarango the benefit of the doubt a few weeks ago… But he is clearly incompetent at best and dishonest at worst, so I will no longer defend him.

Some of us live by the law of our new homeland, learn the new language and respect others, and don’t bring up the race card when things don’t turn out the way we expect.

Im suprised that anyone would claim that the denial of this liquor license is racially motivated. Mr. Tarango appears to have painted himself into a corner and gave the city council no choice but to deny his application. No racially motivated conspiracy theory here. “Honked up rednecks”? If thats true ( and I don't believe it is) the redneck masses weren't needed in this case. Mr. Tarango was his own worst enemy. “Honked up rednecks”…….. thats funny.
