So did our hospital just burn up a years worth of taxes already? I don't see any work on the new hospital. Nothing like having the citizens of Moffat County pony up a truck load of money and then don't even give them even a tid bit of information. So where is the hospital?

We are hiring a firm from Denver to do a study to find out what happened to the moneys and why the work isn't happening. Could cost up to $35,000 for the study but; hey the taxpayers will foot the bill.

Something about a bear, a deer, a groundhog. Something about body fluids, and maybe an elk, skunk, or moose. I don't remember all of it, or the order of it. Somebody that isn't as lazy as I am could look it up, I suppose. Oh, I think highway 13 got thrown in there too.

I made my quarterly tax payment the other day and it just hit me that my 160 acres is helping pay for something that isn't there yet. Why isn't our news paper asking these kinds of questions? It has been months and months since we have even heard a peep out of the hospital. They got their loan didn't they? I thought HUD gave them the “go ahead” to start spending their own money to start work early - what ever that means. Stan Hawthorn — Is this hospital going to get built? One of the County Commissioners (who will remain nameless) told me that nothing is a done deal up there and that the hospital is spending so much time trying to build a new hospital, that they aren't properly running the one they have so HUD hasn't signed off on anything until they clean up their act. A little communication and honest clarificaiton is all I am asking for.

I'm going to try and make a few phone calls this week-end and see if I can't find out something. This is crazy, and I know we all hate being kept in the dark. We should get monthly updates or something. If they don't get the loan, what does that do to the mill levy? Does it nullify it? Will try to find out something.

Rumors around the hospital is that because Joint Commission keeps flunking us on our accreditation that HUD has told us they won't fund us to run a new hospital if we can't even run the one we have.

The fat administrator keeps flying all over the country on the tax payer's dime (he is gone about half the time) meanwhile they whelched on paying employees any kind of bonus because they weren't able to justify it financially. Fact is, if it wasn't for Randy Phelps making a bunch of money, setting up the foundation, and getting county and DOLA money the guys currently running the place wouldn't even be able to afford to do the crappy job they are doing. I will be surprized if the new hospital ever gets built - especially at the rate that we are losing knowledgable staff and replacing them with low-cost inexperienced ones. Just take a look at the employement section of the daily press and you will see how many positions the hospital always has open. I fear the ship is sinking. My husband and I are already looking at making the move to junction or rifle - I am just glad my youngest is now out of school so I don't have that to worry about too, I feel sorry for the nurses and staff that have just hired on with this mess.

Yea, another story the newspaper of record isn't covering. That's ok staff, write a story about how things are at collage in California or about the new word your child learned from her friends. Don't bother reporting on anything too controversial, somebody might get mad and not advertise in our paper!

Okay, I just got off the phone with someone who knows and everything is just about ready to go. The hospital submitted the plans to the building department or what ever it is called, and something was left out. As soon as they fix the plans and resubmit it, they will get the permits and it will go. They have made a profit the last two months and things are looking good.

I was so intrigued by you message I too had to make a call and it just so happens my really really good friend works for the city's planning and zoning (I just got off the phone) and they are calling BS on this!

However, I can almost believe the idea though that the Hospital is using an architect that they paid well over a million dollars for and he forgot something so significant that it would hold up the whole process. What did he forget, the roof? I bet that wasn't figured into the price. If this was really happening they would just have to submit and amended drawing while in the construction process and the city would accept the change. I am surprized that it would take months and months for an archtect who was paid over a million dollars to make a change. My architec who designed my house made major changes to my entire plan and had them back to me in less than a week. Turns out he uses a computer so almost any change can be done quickly and easily and then they just print it on this thing called a printer and it just spits it out with all the changes and everything. Granny either you were sold a load of crap or the person who gave you the news was sold a load of crap and you are just a victim of circumstance.

Hey 50, Remeber MKB does not handle stuations right. I let rhammel push one of my buttons. It happens. Think about it, MKB is picking on a sister of a guy, who's screen name is 50cal. Not the brightest thing I've seen. Hippies are fun to talk to and laugh at and even learn from. But some things they say you have to forget real fast or it will just blow your mind thinking how do they make it through life. You'll just stay stuck with your mouth open trying to speak, wondering where the heck do I even start.

We should all have given Stan more credit. Now that the hospital has secured their money(thanks to us fools) they are starting to cut services to our citizens. The promises of great things to come with a new facility are beginning to fall apart. First up: the ambulance service, next?
