This doesn't directly affect Craig, but the folks of El Paso County did the right thing by sending Rep. Douglas Bruce packing. He lost the Republican Primary last night to challenger Mark Waller by 320 votes. Bruce has good, solid ideas about limited government and reducing government waste, but the fact that he's a cantankerous, loud-mouthed jerk who can't work with anybody (even members of his own party) makes him a completely ineffective lawmaker. Because of his actions and his attitude at the statehouse, every piece of legislation that Bruce authored was mothballed and never made it out of committee.

Mr. Bruce reminds me of a toddler who lays on the floor kicking and screaming to get people's attention. The El Paso County Republican Party nominated him to fill departing congressman Bill Cadman's seat. I think his nomination was the GOP's way of giving him just enough rope to hang himself. Between being the first legislator censured by his peers, to causing controversy by referring to legal migrant workers as “illiterate peasants” Mr. Bruce did not disappoint. Here's to hoping that this defeat spells the end of his tumultuous political career.

I don't think politics are a popularity contest, however, if it gets to the point no one will work with you like him, you have to go. I agree with you.

I some times thought he had some good points to make, he just doesn't know how to make them in the proper way. He sure made things interesting at times when we got to see what he was up to via the new on tv!! Almost like watch some comedy show that's shocking and kind of funny but not really!???
