I can't help but wonder if the people that have voted “No” on the current question of the week (Are you confident in the job Moffat County Social Services is doing?) are people that were not parenting appropriately and Social Services was forced to step in and make decisions that the “parents” didn't like.
The Moffat County DSS is a really incredible agency. The crimes that the caseworkers have to investigate are horrific. Yes: even in our little town. The people who are running around creating bad feelings about the department need to look around and see the good that these hard-working, under-appreciated, under-paid people are doing.
As my Mom used to say, “If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.”
And, if you HAVE to say something: talk to your senator or congressman. They are the ones who make the changes. All of the bad-mouthing that has gone on in the newspaper and between agencies just creates more problems.

Whell like MY MOM always said, if some one says you smell like $#*! check your shoes….ater all, it cant be covered up with perfume and proper words! What i mean is, if its the mojoritis opinion that buisness is being conducted poorly, then it becomes news worthy, that is a HUGE preverbial pink elephant. and i am sure our credibal news paper wouldn't prink false, accusations that are deflaitory to the charachter of such a 'prestigous' organization!

It is not the rank and file employees that are the problem, it is the management! Peer has run off more good help than you can count on two hands and still remains the fair haired child of the County Commissioners. The BOCC has for years heard about her heavy handed management, unfair and unequal treatment of employees and being gone from work days at a time. I've heard that some of the employees are so fearful of losing their jobs that they are afraid to say anything. It might be interesting to see just exactly how much Moffat County is paying for her travels around the country and what, if anything, we might be getting in return. I applaud each and every employee for doing a great job under what can only be described as horrible working conditions. I agree with bridy that they are under appreciated but mostly so by Marie Peer. Take a look folks, isn't she one of the highest paid county employees? Should we not hold her to a higher level of performance? Where was she when one of her employees was selling Meth right out of the county offices in Dinosaur? Probably at one of her meetings in Denver. What's more important? Denver or a drug free Moffat County? Did Peer even visit Dinosaur and supervise her employee there or was she too busy being a bigshot? One would think that the BOCC would at least investigate how Peer was performing her duties here in Moffat County. We'll wait and see if that happens. Don't hold your breath!
