It's about time people to confront our city government and mayor so we can get assurance that the criminal eliment of the illegal is being processed aggressively. It should be one strick and you'r out for acts of “crime”, no matter what the degree (not traffic tickets).

But domestic violence, DUI, no insurance, drugs, etc., should be deported, no matter where they are from. I ran into an illegal Swedish gal in town trying to find work without papers….this is not about Hispanics only even though it's obvious from just looking around that we've got a problem which leads me to believe that our city has chosen not to enforce….anarchy.

An 11 year old girl was raped by an illegal this Easter weekend in Utah. Some of these illegals have been arrested numerous times.

It's going to take a death in this town of one of our own, especially one of our youth, before someone speaks out on this subject.

It was heart breaking to hear the father of one of those two teenage girls that were run downed in Virginia Beach last week by an illegals This driver had been arrested a couple times already for DUIs, no license, illegal, no insurance and always was let off…..The father was devestated to find out that information. He calls her cell phone everyday just to hear her voice and leaves a message for her….he can't take this.

We need to do something for our town (which I love) before a tragedy like this happens here.

Apathy strikes again, or maybe someone should get the straight story from the youngster. Maybe the local police are withholding the information in hopes of giving someone 'enough rope.' Too many unanswered varibles in this whole story.
And Taylor, I agree with you, when you use the term “illegal” to describe those living among us who are undocumented. I live in another county, close to MoCo and bordering the State west of us. I have noticed a troubling trend in the situations in which illegals are involved, and reported in the local (read this as Grand Junction, Meeker, Vernal, Glenwood Springs and Rifle) newspapers. ie. If there is a crime involved, and the perp is undocumented and has committed a serious crime, rape, murder, drug related, or whatever might be considered a felony. He/she is described as an illegal alien.
However if the same people were to be killed or seriously injured in a workplace accident, or auto crash, alcohol or drug involved or not, suicide, or anything not involving a crime, that same person would be described in those same newspapers as a Mexican National, or a National citizen of whatever country they were illegally here from. I use the last portion of the previous long sentence intently because we do have plenty of those residents from the 'from the former Yugoslavia' Latvia, Russia, Kazhakistan and others, who are undocumented. A recent trip to the Northwest convinced me they have the same problem with undocumented chinese that we have with hispanics. Chinese Nationals? The difference is most of the chinese folks are female and are indentured and have a much, much, better understanding and use of our language. Indentured I asked, I thought slavery went away almost 200 years ago. Most of these people will do anything to leave China, They call it riding the snake, and come in on cargo ships somewhat similiar to one of the old Mel Gibson movies. I have sorrow for them but, they are illegal none the less, those who buy them here are those who need to be captured and punished.

I have two children at the Middle School. They walk home after school, sometimes separately, sometimes together. Three weeks ago would have been a good time for us to know about this incident. What would have happened if another child had not been so fortunate to get away from this predator?! I read this story to my kids this morning before my husband DROVE them to school. They immediately called some of their friends to make sure that they had “buddies” to walk with on the way home from school.

I read in our paper this morning, the story of the 13 yr old girl who thwarted a “would be attacker”. This incident took place after school on February 9th. It was not reported to police until February 25th and was not reported in our paper until March 2nd. What the hell? Does anyone really think this guy is still in the area? It has been 3 weeks.

In addition to the late reporting - it is also a concern that this guy is “possibly” hispanic. Sorry, but I immediately think “illegal”. When are the American people and in particular the people of Craig going to step up to the plate? Why are there just a handful of us who see the illegals here as a problem, a threat? At the very minimum, these people need to be documented. We, as American citizens, are documented from birth. Why would someone, who is here illegally, be afforded more rights, more perks than someone who goes by the book?

Seriously, you are blaming it on the “illegals”??? Wow, Craig has turned racist. There are plenty of legal hispanics that could be blamed, or how about another race? I can't believe that THIS is your concern… what about the underage drinking, the meth that can't seem to be contained, the substance abuse of all ages…. worry about the important things, not something stupid like OMG, there are “illegals” here…
